U.S. Immigration ‘System’ – Dysfunctional & Dangerous
Hiu Lui Ng, a Chinese immigrant swept up into the immigration detention system, began complaining of pain in his back and found himself progressively immobile. A federal judge finally insisted that he receive the treatment he needed. He died five days later at the age of 34. This is not an isolated incident. As we prepare to vote this November, we need to remind other voters, and the candidates, of the real human cost of our failure to create a humane immigration system that respects the dignity of all persons.
